Furnace Construction & Heat Treatment

The development of new or improved materials has substantially contributed to the optimization of industrial furnaces and their efficiency. This holds true both for functional furnace components, such as burners, and for passive elements, such as insulation, mounting structures, fan impellers or kiln furniture. In insulation technology, carbon foams are an interesting self-supporting option for felts. Furnace linings or kiln furniture made of carbon fibre reinforced carbon composite materials have a considerably lower mass compared with metallic structures and, thus, are more easily handled and improve furnace efficiency and controllability. Burners both for the direct and indirect heating of furnaces achieve distinctly higher efficiencies through the use of ceramic materials, such as silicon carbide, and can also be reliably produced in very big dimensions.
